Not So Long Ago
Not so long ago, not so long ago, things were a
whole lot different, not so long ago.
An application was for employment, a program
was a TV show, a cursor used profanity, a keyboard
was a piano. I-tunes were songs for the blind,
Myspace was parking for free,
A notebook used to be spiral bound,
and an apple came from a tree.
Compress was something you did to garbage
not something you did to a file..........
and if you unzipped in public you'd be in
jail for a while. ( Chorus )
Log on was adding wood to a fire, hard drive a
long trip on the road, a mouse pad was where a
mouse lived, a back up was in your comode.
Cut you did with a pocket knife, paste you did
with glue, the web was a little spider's home
and a virus was the flu. File is what you did to
your nails," yahoo" you yelled on a horse........
a disc is what you had in your back and a
server was a waiter of course. ( Chorus )
Google was what a baby did, e-bay was speaking
pig latin, ram was a male sheep and a scroll bar
a joint in Manhattan. Windows are what you had in
your house, software was a cotton shirt, a chat
room was down in the health club and a gigabyte
lived in the dirt. ( Chorus )
I guess I'll have to stick to my pad and paper and
the memory in my head.....though no one's yet
died in a computer crash when it happens they'll
wish they were dead! ( Chorus )
